August 8, 2010
Note -
Change of Date to August 8
Rowe Rumble -
Starting at 4:00 p.m.
Join us on Sunday, August 8th, for the Rowe Rumble - a family nature
adventure race. The Rowe Rumble is a different twist to adventure
racing, one of the world's fastest growing sports. In adventure racing
strategy, teamwork, and mental ability are just as important to the race
as physical ability. The Rowe Rumble will have all these challenges, but
you can do it all at your own pace.
The race trail will take
you into the prairie, through the trees, and if water levels permit, into
the river. (Please wear old closed toe shoes to protect your feet.)
Along the trail will be fun tests that will quiz teams on their ecological
IQ about the natural world.
This is an excellent
activity for families, clubs, church groups, or anyone who just enjoy
being outdoors. This event is appropriate for all ages, but each group
must have at least one adult. The trail will be approximately one and a
half miles long.
Self-guided Hikes
- Feel free to wander along our two trails that lead from the Iain
Nicolson Audubon Center. Both offer the opportunity to get close to
the river and explore what's singing, buzzing or in bloom.
Campfire
We will have the campfire blazing and marshmallows ready to roast (weather
permitting). Come,
bring the whole family, tell your neighbors and join us for a great
afternoon exploring nature.
Note: If you are an
expert in the field of conservation or other nature oriented fields and
are interested in becoming one of our presenters for First Sundays, please
